Babies' 1st Christmas: 2012

Christmas morning began with the reading of the Christmas story out of the babies' Jesus Storybook Bible followed by opening presents at home before heading out to eat waffles with Tom's family and Christmas dinner with my family.

Wren got her first baby doll.

I think she likes it!

Grady got his very first car!

He seems to be a fan!

A sensory book to share.

May I help you?

What a face!

He can work those baby blues I tell ya!

Doing what she does best...cheesin'!

Grady & Wren: 8 Months

Grady's Stats: 16 lbs? / ? inches

Wren's Stats: 17 lbs? / ? inches

(I have no idea what the 8 month weights are, especially after weight lost due to the tummy bug.)

Grady's Clothing & Diaper Size: Mostly 6-9 Month clothes and Size 2 diapers. (We just moved up to size 3's a few days ago.)

Wren's Clothing & Diaper Size: Mostly 6-9 Month clothes and Size 2 diapers. (We just moved up to size 3's a few days ago.)

Special Outings: On Saturday December 15, 2012, we went to see your cousin, Mikey, play a basketball game in Choctaw.

That evening, we took a family date to Cuppies & Joe and then drove around to look at Christmas lights.

On Sunday, December 16, you met Santa and had your first picture taken with him. You were kind of underwhelmed and didn't smile for the camera. But you didn't cry either, so I'll take it!

Friday, December 21, 2012 we celebrated the beginning of Daddy's 11-day vacation from work by going out to eat at one of Mommy's favorite restaurants, Redrock Canyon Grill.

You attended your first 11pm Christmas Eve service at church and did really well through the whole service.

Because Daddy was off work and home with us for several days, we went to the grocery store all together a few days after Christmas, we had never attempted that before. You usually stay home with daddy while Mommy goes to the grocery store alone.

On December 29, 2012, you met our good friends Daniel and Lindsay Chrisman for the first time.

You celebrated your first New Year's Eve with Mommy and Daddy and friends at the Watson's new house. Unfortunately, I didn't take a pic of that evening.

Mommy and daddy switched our gym membership to the YMCA so we could have a place for you to go while we work out. You went to the Y's Child Watch room January 2, 3, & 5, 2013. The first time you were both really fussy (mainly you, Wren). The second time you started throwing up (mainly you, Grady). And the third time you had a big blow out diaper, Wren.

Milestones: You are able to sit up unaided for long periods of time and topple over less frequently. You both roll to your sides and can roll from your back to your tummy. We lay you on your backs to sleep but you almost always roll to your side to fall asleep. You both love to explore new objects and toys by picking them up, shaking them, banging them against things, and putting them in your mouths. You also transfer objects from the grasp of one hand to the other. Wren, you raise a blanket or burp cloth over your face and wait to see if we are watching so you can start a game of peek-a-boo.

My Thoughts: This past month has flown by even faster than the previous months of your lives. It  was literally a blur and I'm late writing this update because it has been so crazy with the holidays and sickness. You both got sick on your second time in the Y's child watch room. We got past it relatively quickly but then it came back with a vengeance on Sunday, January 6, 2013 (on your 8-month 'birthday'). All four of us came down with the full-blown awful tummy bug and are just now starting to feel normal again. I'm so thankful for your grandparents who dropped what they were doing and came over in shifts that Sunday to help take care of you because Daddy and I were too sick to do so.

Grady, you are still not taking your full normal sized bottle all at the same time. We are having to give you a couple of ounces at time followed by a 20-30 minute break or else you will throw everything up. You both have also gagged yourselves with your fingers to the point of vomiting a couple of times. Everyday for the past 9 days, one and/or both of you have had blowouts or vomit for me to clean up. Hopefully soon your systems will adjust and return back to normal and maybe you can give me a throw-up/blowout free day. :)

These days our routine looks roughly like this:
